HMRC Employment History just not coming

Post by Gomjaba » Sat Jul 18, 2015 8:35 pm

Months ago I sent the HMRC an employment history form

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ry-request

I hear people used to get the answer within ten days (people on the phone kept telling me to use the form rather than calling) and the form also states not to call them for updates as it is distracting (the older one did at least and I see it has been updated since).

It has been a LONG time - I think I asked for it back in May.

To be fair, I thought maybe it never arrived as I didn't sent it recorded.

I then eventually requested an SAR - which as far as I know is more thorough anyway

https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/shortforms/form/DPU_SAR

As with the HO they do say they have 40 days to respond. I also did an SAR for the HO in order to get my entries / exists from the UK and that took exactly 50 days.

Now the SAR from the HMRC is at around 60 days as well - so well over the legal 40 days required. I sent a letter recorded to the FOI department in London (RMSD) and no response.

It is almost as if they ignore me.

Anyone else got a history lately, via employment history or SAR ?

It's a government service, bureaucratic & impersonal so they're not ignoring you in particular.
Delay by HMRC in providing data

The Data Protection Act requires HMRC to comply with a SAR request within 40 calendar days.

If HMRC delay in replying or the response is not adequate, you can write to the office that dealt with the request to complain. They should reply to this complaint within 10 working days.

If the response is not acceptable, or HMRC continue to delay providing the information, you should contact the Information Commissioner (https://ico.org.uk/concerns)
You could try a further complaint (&/or involve your MP):

All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
