Yes I did
After receiving the 3-6 months I emailed them asking about my application and they replied saying they still viewing my case and they will post to me if they needed anything .. A month after they sent me a post asking for more evidence and I sent them straight via recorded post and a month later they replied saying my application as been successful

Hi,

i've been following this post since I sent off my application back in August and I am still waiting :-(

Eligibility criteria: EEA 5 + 1 years
Language criteria met : Cambridge C1
Method of application: self
Date of application: 25/8/14
Date of receipt by UKBA:
Date of acknowledgment: 01/09/2014
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 01/09/14
Date approval received:
Date of ceremony:

I've been in touch with my MP and he has contacted the Home Office on my behalf, receiving this reply:

Dear xxx

Thank you for your email correspondence of 2 July to the Home Secretary on behalf of xxxxxxxxxxxx, about her application for Naturalisation as a British citizen. Your correspondence has been passed to me to reply.

I am sorry that it is taking longer than we would wish for xxxxxxxxxx application to be processed and that she feels our service did not meet her expectations on this occasion.

I hope it is helpful to explain that our service standard is that we will complete 100% of workable and straightforward cases within six months. The definition of a workable case, and what we expect from our customers, is available on our website at: http://www.gov.uk/government/organisati ... r-services. Where further information is required, the case will not be classed as workable, and may take longer to decide.

Naturalisation is not an entitlement and before granting British citizenship we must be satisfied that an applicant meets all statutory requirements. It is standard policy to undertake a number of enquiries before an application for naturalisation can be decided. Some of these enquiries are carried out by external agencies on our behalf and can sometimes take longer than six months to complete.

Furthermore, following recent clarification of the Nationality rules, greater levels of scrutiny will be applied to certain applications. This will be dependent on certain indicators within their immigration history that pre-date the application for naturalisation. xxxxxxxxxx case has been identified as such a case and it has not been possible to conclude it within six months.

We will contact xxxxxxxxxxxxx with further updates and can advise that she does not need to contact us again unless her circumstances change significantly. We will contact you again on 2 November with an update on the case.

xxxxxxxxxxx does not need to contact our Contact Centre regarding the progress of her case as they will not be able to provide any further information. This also applies to any family members whose applications for citizenship were submitted at the same time.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in deciding xxxxxxxxx application.

Yours sincerely

xxxxxxxxxx

2nd November!!!!!!!! I'm still a bit in shock to be honest. How can an application take this long? And my application IS very straight forward, except that I am an EEA citizen without PR card.

Naturally contacted Local MP 03/07/2015

Hi Siraj, many thanks. Basically we started off mentioning that being a straight forward application, we are a bit stumped by the awful lot of time being taken by HO to make this decision. We mentioned that we are well aware that MPs cannot influence the decision of HO and it is how it should be. However, on our behalf would he be able to enquire for what reason our application is taking almost close to a year. This was a very straight forward application of an applicant who has emigrated to this country 6 years back and has established themselves in the society upholding the true spirit of this country. I also added if there is anything that can be done from our end to expedite the process, we are more than happy to provide HO with further evidence.

Then I mentioned the Application Number, Names and Date of Birth of Applicants, Case Worked Name.

Same here, waiting for almost 13 months.
My MP was given standard response of some applications do take longer as going through extra checks etc.
Since then no further updates.

Just a quick update on my situation. About 1 week after I got the response via my MP I had a phone call for some clarification regarding the spelling of my surname on my certificate and about 3 weeks later I got the citizenship invitation!

It was a long wait and I am convinced my MP's letter has made them "find" my application.

All is good now though, I had my ceremony on 25th August and have today applied for my passport :-)
