Help - UK to Canada

Post by Stevenc » Thu Oct 25, 2007 12:02 pm

Hi

I’m looking to immigrate to Canada from the UK and looking for some advice. I’ve heard the wait time to obtain your Visa after application is about 3 or 4 years. Is that correct?

I’d be looking to use the skilled worker route. Is it best to send your application for Permanent Residency in with a job offer? Apply for a job once your visa application is up and running? Or just get a job out there?

If it’s the first option (Which I presume it will be) how likely are companies to give you a firm offer of a job when you will have to wait 2, 3, 4 or maybe more years to start work?

Thanks very much
:D

Hi,

According to the information from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, 50% of the cases are finalized in 32 months if you apply as skilled worker in the London Office.

It would give you extra 10 points towards your application, if you have a job offer approved by HRSDC (only certain occupations do not require HRSDC approval).

Alternatively, you may want to consider coming to Canada on a work permit while your immigration application is in process.
