When can I claim child benefit?

Hi there
I got my ilr on 6th July 2015 just wanted to know can i start claiming child benefit on my name?
My wife is on pbs dependant tier 2 visa will this affect her ilr?
All my children are born in the UK.
Can I claim child tax credit if I am on 26 k

You can claim child benefit in your name only and tax credits in joint names without it affecting your wife's future visa applications.

my original query was of time limit I want to know how soon can i apply? The reason being one of my friends asked to wait for a month after ilr is that right?

Hi

The reason your friend said wait for a month is because they back date the claim for 3 months. However the process of getting child benefit can take up to 12 weeks. You can apply straight away now.. there shouldn't any problems! Just send the original birth certificate and your copy of ILR.

i am currently on ILR since july 2015 claiming ctc and CB , my wife is tier 2 dependant and we are planning to apply in feb 2016.
looking at the form under section 5 , do i mark yes or no? its asking are you receiving public funds, she is not i am so what should be the answer? confused?
5.5 Are you receiving any public funds? Yes No
The public funds which are relevant for the purposes of the Immigration Rules are listed below.
If you have answered yes to question 5.5, you must tick the relevant box(es) to show which of
these are being received.
Attendance Allowance Carer’s Allowance
Child Benefit Child Tax Credit
Council Tax Benefit Council Tax Reduction
Disability Living Allowance Housing Benefit
Housing or Homlessness
assistance
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income Support Income Related Employment and Support
Allowance
SET(O) Version 11/15 Page 18
Personal Independence Payment Severe Disablement Allowance
Social Fund Payment State Pension Credit
Working Tax Credit Universal Credit
You must complete all four of the boxes below if you are applying as a work permit
