When does the HSMP clock starts?

Post by hsmphsmp » Fri Oct 26, 2007 7:34 am

When does the HSMP period starts? From the date of HSMP approval letter or from the date of EC stamp?

If my hsmp approval letter is dated 15oct07 and if my EC is stamped 15Dec07, will I have to apply for HSMP renewal before 15Dec07 or Before 15Oct07?

If EC is from 01/12/2007 to 01/12/2009 then FLR is to be applied in Nov.2009

Dear Jami,
I have additional querry pertaining to my EC,
I am currently working in Saudi Arabia on work permit and want to keep work permit for atleast one more year without working in Saudi arabia. It require visiting Saudi arabia once in 6 months.
I am thinking of keeping my work permit in Saudi Arabia temporarily, until I get settled in the UK on my HSMP visa, now I want to ask u people that doing so would cast any dark shadow on my HSMP status in UK? or not. and wether upon arrival at the airport, the immigration officer will going to check my passport with final exit stamp from Saudi Arabia or not?

I will appreciate your comments.

You would face no problem at all either at the time of first entry or on subsequent entries. There is no doubt that at subsequent entry at immigration counter you would be asked questions regarding duration and purpose of outside visit. But these are customary chit chat.

At the time of ILR a chart of absence is to provided and reason of each absence is to be given. But there too rules are very flexible on justification.Fullfilment of any earlier contractual obligation and/or pilgrimage is a valid justification. Consider why for FLR overseas earnings are allowed to be added and these can be more than Uk earnings. You may be in an advantageous position instead of any danger if you are able to add up your tax free overseas income for FLR

Moreover, you are concerned with the first year only and that has a liberal treatment even for earnings what to say of stay.
But as a precaution your absence should not be for more than 3 continuous months on any visit .
RELAX. Your concern has already been addressed by many.

Thanx Jami for your detailed response. I have one more querry. As you have suggested that overseas earnings will be beneficial at the time of FLR, I want to know that if I show my overseas income from tax free country, then would i suppose to pay tax in uk on this income, or not? or I can keep this income in my Home country- Pakistan, and show this as my overseas income???? is it possible???
