Am suspecting the delays are due to the new Biometric requirement which were introduced on 6th April and it's evident by the fact that it's almost only applications made just before or after this date that are still pending. It's always best to send applications before April, any rules and changes come into effect after April 1st.

Hi

I don't think so that biometric is the cause for delays. That is correct that that they have transferred case workers in passport section because of the blunder last year. Many people could not go to holidays because they didn't get their passports in time because there were thousands of applications and not many employees to deal with those applications. I hope it gets quicker after mid term holidays.

Hi Shashi

If the application was submitted by the 31 of April and approval was received by 31 of July, this will make it just a 3 months.
Congratulation and best of luck for the ones that waiting!

Thanks

Are you sure your date of application is '31/04/2015' and not '31/03/2015'? April doesn't have 31 days :-)

Update Application Timeline

Eligibility criteria: section 1(3)
Method of application: NCS (Basingstoke)
Date of Application : 01/04/2015
Date of receipt by UKBA: 07 April 2015
Date of debit of fees: 24 April 2015
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 10 May 2015
Date on registration certificate: 30 July 2015
Date of receipt of registration certificate: 01 August 2015 (4 months exactly)

Few Learnings from this process
1. Postal application is faster than NCS. NCS is good for people who need the documents to travel. I did need my sons passport and existing visa for travel to my home country. So it was helpful via NCS.
2. NCS does not help with application query. Their expertise was of no use in my case since I applied on 1 April 2015 and they were confused to either use the old documentation or the new one with Biometric. They have a disclaimer that they are only forwarding agency.
3. On a personal note, It is quite a frustrating process. I got the same certificate from my home embassy for 27£ with waiting time of 2 weeks. The corresponding timeline and money involved in Acquiring British citizenship was certainly overpaid (personal view considering the application was for an infant less than 2 years, though it our discretion to apply for citizenship)
4. Patience Pays and good things comes to those who only wait, wait, wait :) :) :) (4 months in my case)

Thanks to crystalboy, everest and Kaleem Ahmed who also posted their timelines.

Congrats! Fantastic, seems like you are one of the first to receive certificate for applications received by HO post 6th April, did you have to give biometrics for your son?

Hi Sanjay and Avimanyu

1. I have not given biometrics for my kid. So am not in the new process of £749 but in the old process of £669.

2. With respect to travel and visa, please see details in my other post

I wondered if someone can help
I am going to apply for BC, my daughter is currently on FLR(M) because she was born abroad as my wife is also on FLR (M). Can I apply for my daughter's BC using MN1 form under article 3(1). in the guidance notes its says that other parent must be settled in the UK in order to apply for BC under article 3(1).

I have just received Biometric enrolment letter for my two kids, but I stated in the application that the children are with my wife in Kenya. The letter they sent was address to my wife but I want to know how the children can have their Biometrics in Kenya.

Hi tier1o

I don't mean to be rude but naturally people will go to where they are likely to get an answer and this happens to be one of those places. One or two related questions won't do much harm, I suppose.

Hwima, if you have dual Nationality including BC its your passport that identifies that and its what you use to travel and not the BRP card. Lets just say I applied for my baby daughter too recently and I enclosed the HER BRP card as per HO instruction for those WITH it. If you filled in the MN1 application yourself it asks if you were issued with one and to enclose it unless for some reason it is not in your possession. The only copy i enclosed was my ILR BRP card because I was not the applicant so no need to send it. Unless they make a mistake, HO will not issue you with a cert and leave you with the original BRP card at the same time. Its the same with those who were once issued with a visa on paper, when it was time to renew, you had to return the original expired one with the application.
I think to clarify this, its best you contact the Nationality team to inquire.
Hi righty, I think you've summed it up well and I will make further enquiries. Thanks

Call 0300 123 2253 and go for the option 'application over 6 months' and tell them to reissue the acknowledgement letter and biometric letter. Also e-mail FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk with the same query.

Hi

I have requested following information from Home office I will let you know as soon as I receive a reply

Dear Home Office,

I would like to request the following information under freedom of information act

1- How many case workers are dealing with naturalisation/registration application form MN1.
2- Any case workers has been deployed to HMPO for passports backlog.
3- If any case workers are deployed to HMPO when will they be returning to deal with the registration applications.
4- what is the average processing time for this type of application (MN1)
5- How MN1 applications are dealt, what is the process and how many teams are involved.
6- Before April 2015 most of the applications were decided within 4 to 6 weeks, why there is delays is deciding applications. On average now it is taking more then 4 months.
7- Why do they require two references in this type of application as most of these applicants are young children's/toddlers.
8- is there any way we can request to expedite the process if someone has to travel.
9- How many applications were received for MN1 since March 2015 each month.
10- how many of those applications are complete.
11- How many applications are decided in each month during this time.

Please provide me with the requested information.
Thanks

Hi Smkuk

You should call them and also give them your UK correspondence address. Maybe it got lost is the post. You have to write to them to give UK correspondence address. Once you have received biometric you can forward that to India by post or email.

Good luck with your applications. Thanks
