Tier 2 Visa refusal for English language

Post by Kitenge » Mon Aug 10, 2015 7:42 am

Hi!

Several days ago I received a notice that my visa was refused because the ECO did not accept my English Language certificate.
I have a Certificate in Advanced English, dated 16/05/2006, which according to ECO expired in 2008.

On gov.uk website I found a table (Transitional list of approved tests and providers) according to which the Certificate in Advanced English has no expiry and can be used in all applications until 5th November (if the test has been taken on or before 5th April 2015). I also submitted all the supporting documents (certificate, statement of results, candidate ID number and candidate's secret number).

What you guys think I should do in this situation?

Thanks.

What is your test provider/ center name? Normally IELTS tests valid for 2 years from the date of you passed the test. Is your English certificate different from IELTS? If so, what is that?

Hi Shah,

I have a Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), awarded by University of Cambridge.
It is not IELTS and supposedly has no expiry.

This is the table I am reffering to (CAE is on the page 5):

Thanks.

Ah, I see. As per the Transitional list of approved tests and providers - your test has no expiry and should be ok for your application.

1. Have you given right to apeal the ECO's decision?
2. Is this only the reason why ECO refused your application or anything else did s/he mention addition to this?

Hi Shah,

1. I was given the right to request Administrative review
2. This was the only reason why my application was refuesd

What do you think my chances are to have the decision overturned?

Thanks.

Very likely because your English test has no expiry so ECO's decision could be wrong. I think you should go for Administrative review but please wait while other senior members share their thoughts as well.
