Working holiday visa during HSMP processing:Moderators help

Post by talk2ravi » Tue Dec 07, 2004 5:58 am

Hi All,

The HSMP processing is taking a long time these days.(close to 6 months now)

I am from india and citizens of India can goto the UK on a working holiday visa and also work there as full time employees for 2 years.

My question is

Is it legal/acceptable to goto the UK on a workingholiday maker while the HSMP is being processed??????

Moderators/Seniors please respond.

THanks,
Ravi

It is absolutelly legaly to go while on HSMP assessment..

I have done the same but keep in mind in ur VAF!1 form don't write that u have applied for any other visa as till now u have just sent HSMP assessment appl form and nothing else.

From where are u applying (DELHI).
One more piece of advice, don't tell that u have applied for HSMP while filling VAF1 for WHM, it will delay ur process.

Hi Gunjans,

Thanks for the information. Suppose I get the HSMP in next few months. Can i switch from workingholiday to HSMP immediately.

As per the website I can apply for HSMP after staying in the UK for 1 year on Workingholiday visa.

Request your reply.

THanks,
Ravi

Yes you should be able to switch to HSMP and file for FLR.

Basically incountry switching for HSMP is allowed for the following categories
- Work permit holders
- working holiday makers
- A student who has graduated at a UK higher or further educational establishment
- A post graduate doctor/dentist or trainee GP
- A participant on Science and Eng. Graduate Scheme

Sorry to digress a bit, but please what is a VAF1 form?

Hi Olisun,

You can work as a full time employee.

"MWAZIR" are you sure that I need not wait to complete 1 year on working holiday visa to move to HSMP.

Thanks,
Ravi

Some more queries related to the Working holiday maker (WHM) visa

1. If I go to the UK on a WHM visa and my HSMP gets approved, do I need to come back to india for the EC?

2. Is it mandatory to get a letter from the current employer stating that I am going on a long leave or holiday. The website doesn't state that though.

3. I am working for a multinational company with operations in the UK. On a WHM visa can I join the UK branch. any idea?

Thanks
Ravi

It is a non-settlement form for UK for Visa purpose.

according to my info from India, i am confirmed:
1. It is necessary to be on WHM for atleast 1 yr before applying for HSMP.
2. If u have sent ur HSMP assessement application and then u go to UK on WHM and after that u get HSMP approval then u can switch any time.

I hope that helps :!: :!: :!:

Gunjan,

Thanks for the quick response.

Is it mandatory to prove that I have taken a long term holiday from my current job. (as a proof that I am coming back to india after 2 years)

Also does the UK high consulate ask for any proof that I am coming back to my country after the 2 years stay in the UK.

Cheers,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,

If u r coming to India for vacations after 2 yrs then it doen't matter and neither UK consulate will ask for it.

But if u r coming to convert ur WHM to HSMP then in that case ur employer will write a letter that u r still continuing the services with the company and u r off to ur home country for conversion of visa and will join later.

AND after joining back it ur wish to further continue with same firm or change.

Hello All,

I had a quick chat with a officer from the British high commission india.

According to him , If I am in the UK on a workingholiday visa during my HSMP processing that's fine but if I get my HSMP approval and come to india for EC they would know that I had applied for workingholiday visa after applying for HSMP.

Do I stand a chance of rejection then?? Any idea?

Regards,
Ravi

Working holiday visa during HSMP processing:Moderators help

Post by brave » Thu Dec 16, 2004 11:56 pm

It seems like applying for Working Holiday maker will extend the time by 3 months. I want to make sure if I understand this thing properly.

For example, if I am expecting to get HSMP in 3 months and that because I want to go to UK earlier, I apply Working holiday maker visa and go. Now when my HSMP comes in 3 months, I apply for FLR which will again take 3 more months to get approved and hence the overall time frame when u get the HSMP is 9 months (6 months for HSMP + 3 months for FLR)

Am I right in my understanding of the WHM & HSMP?
