Thanks for the information! Fingers crossed, hopefully I will be able to give good news soon as well. I was worried that they might not have my wife's updated job information on time but maybe they didn't call her previous employer as she had a permanent contract. Will have to wait now.... Enjoy your day!

You got your COA quite fast.
we are poor april applicants due to credit card type RC. i think only print them will take 15 days as HO is slowest in the world.

What you guys think? when we gonna see the first RC from april?
I guess first week of october.

Hi All,

I've posted this question in other posts, but this seems to be the most active one so hopefully you guys can help. My wife is a non EEA national and I am Portuguese so we applied for her RC back in May, we received the COA with work permit mid June and haven't received any further information. From what I've been reading in this post, I don't think we can expect it at least until October, but I've also seen that some cases have taken over 6 months. We are planning a trip to America in December and are therefore thinking of requesting our passports back at the beginning of November. The problem is my wife arrived in the UK with a visitor Visa which has now expired, so if the RC doesn't arrive and we travel in December, will they let her back into the country? Is there any document that I need to request before we travel to ensure we don't have any problems when we return? I've heard of cases where people request their passports back and leave and when they try to come back the airline doesn't allow them onto the plane because they don't have a Visa...

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks and good luck to all!

Edsteruk wrote:Hi Guys,

Quick question that im hoping you can help with.

Im an EEA national, my wife is not. we submitted our application back at the start of June and had COA come through but no Residence card. I travel for work so requested my passport back and am requesting my wifes back as well because we have a trip to USA in October and i need for her to apply for a visa.

as im filling in the return request form for my wifes passport i noticed they say this on the form...

"if I am the main applicant or another applicant and I am subject to immigration control (i.e. not settled or an EEA national or the family member of an EEA national) and I have requested my travel document for identity purposes I understand that if I use those documents to travel outside the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man my application may be refused, voided or withdrawn and the fee will not be refunded. I may also be unable to re-enter the UK;"

this scared me a little as it was mentioned in a previous post that we should be ok to come back into the UK as long as we have the COA, marriage cert and we are travelling together and have our passports but this seems to make me believe she wont be able to travel if she requests documents back...has anyone that has requested passports back travelled out of the UK and returned with no/little issues?

Thanks
Hi Edsteruk,

I am in the exact same situation, if you have an update on this I would really appreciate it. My wife is a non EEA national and we're thinking of requesting her passport back so we can travel to America.

Thanks!

You may try to enter country with valid passport, COA and marriage certificate.
The issue is airline companies are tend to not let you to the board without valid visa.
It can be good idea to contact with airliner you are flying with and get a confirmation.

Any one applied in August received their COA ? Would you like to share here your timeline?

Waiting day and night for it to proceed my job application....
This EEA2 process just gets increasingly complicated. Before April, applicants can get their COA 1 or 2 weeks after submitting application. Now one month seems among the fastest ...

Oh... this system is really trying its best to place more and more obstacles/steps to just confirm our legal right to work or have a normal life here ...

Hi Nina,

I sent my application on 15.08.2015. I've got no letters from HO so far, I guess too early.

I have a question to you and other guys.
I have noticed HO sent the acknowledgment letters to all applicants before biometrics letters.
Has anything changed since new rules came into effect?
You haven't got this letter, have you?

You should apply for EEA Family permit to avoid disappointment. More info at https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/overview

Hi Tati! Welcome to August group!

No, I don't. The version I've heard from HO (by call) is late July they started new procedure that they no longer send acknowledge letter to EEA FM. They however still send this letter to EEA FP mostly by email.

I guess you could check when is your payment taken to know whether the process started. And you are supposed to receive biometric letter soon.

I ve applied for EEA FM, so no letter for me then. Thanks for explanation. I didn't know that.
But can I ask you then how i will find out about my ID case or Ref.number, for example, if I need to get my husband's passport back for his work trip in October? Do they include it in the biometric letter?

Yes, the payment of £65 was taken on 20.08.2015 from my husband's account what means the process has started and I'm looking forward to the biometric letter.
Good luck to all of us and let's keep in touch!!

That is what they told me when I called them in mid-August, unless they change again...
And yes, you will certainly find your ID case number in your biometrics letter. Don't worry too much about it.
Hope you receive your biometrics letter soon!

Sorry, I have a typo in the post above. They however still send this letter to EEA QP by email.

Thanks Nina for cheering me up.
Let's hope I ll get it by the end of the week.

Do you think I can request my husband's passport after my biometric is enrolled? Or do I have to wait until I get my COA letter? I m just more worried about his coming work trip in October as he will need his passport urgently, to get it on time.

Thanks for your opinion.

This is just my opinion: once biometrics enrolled, which often ensures that your application is registered in the system and in the process, you could request passports back. I don't think you HAVE TO wait until COA letter. As I haven't seen cases failed due to passports returned too early. There are other different opinions though.

I think it normally takes a week (in my previous case) or two to get it back after they set up this online process. But certainly, you could make it earlier to avoid any delay.
