I believe the approvals which they have been quoting is for pending March approvals. I could hardly see any April applicant approval. My friends daughter has applied for citizenship and they havent recceived anything yet.anp wrote:They couldn't have made it more confusing!! For example...Quote: "There were 112,407 decisions about British citizenship, 40% fewer than in the previous year (188,910). Correspondingly, there were 42% fewer people granted British citizenship (-75,908 to 105,043). This was the lowest annual figure since 2002 (120,121)."
40% less applicants thus 42% less approvals!!!! This is nuts. Although true, but so misleading.
That's the trick with stats....it's how you read them. Either less people applied or HO processed way less applications compared to other years. Whatever it is, this is not something that HO should be applauded for.

Another way of reading this is that the number of failed naturalisation applications has remained almost constant.anp wrote:there were 42% fewer people granted British citizenship (-75,908 to 105,043).
You mean to say that they have decided 17000+ applicant from April till June. That doesnt sound allright because its around 50% decision which has been taken . Where are the approvals letter then ?stati wrote:Quarter | All applications received |Applications for British citizenship | Decisions taken to grant| Decisions taken to refuse or withdraw |Refused or withdrawn as a % of total decisions
2014 Q4 33,683 32,564 36,058 1,233 3%
2015 Q1 40,534 39,441 36,658 2,425 6%
2015 Q2 36,614 35,713 17,077 3,007 15%
Taken from. No need for FOI request as its all public information: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 5-tabs.ods
If you look at the data carefully, it doesn't mean that the 17k approvals were all for 2015Q2 submissions. For example. The number of total decisions in 2014Q4 exceeds the number of applications submitted during that time period. They likely include some applications that have not been decided on previously, potentially from a 1-2+ years back even.gaurav76.5 wrote: You mean to say that they have decided 17000+ applicant from April till June.
