When can I apply for BC?

Post by Trickytok » Tue Jul 21, 2015 8:31 am

Entered UK in 2007 as student.
PSWin 2008
Tier 1 from 18 Septmber 2009
AppliedILR 28 days before on 23rd August.

Can I apply ILR on 23rd August as it will be one year on ILR?

Do I have to wait for 18 September as thats when I got tier 1 general?

Exactly 12 months from the date you were granted settlement and not a day before, unless you are married to a British citizen.

Many thanks!

I was told that I should wait till 18th September as this is when my 5 year as tier 1 will complete.

As per yourself I will be eligible from 23rd august coz this is when my ILR was granted...

Whoever told you that must read the standard requirements.

Please Help... Continuous period broken??

Post by Trickytok » Fri Aug 28, 2015 3:17 pm

My wife came to UK as student in 2007.
She got PSW valid till 21st Jan 2012.
We got married and she left UK on 18th Oct 2011.
She applied spouse visa in November and Got refused.
She appealled the decision and was succesful.
New visa valid from 20th Jan 2012.
She came back on 27 March 2012 after 160 days outside.
She got IlR 23 Aug 2014.

Now we applying Citizenship.

Will continuous period considered broken
if she left on a residence permit (Valid till 21 jan2012) in Oct
and was given entry clearence dated 20 jan 2012 but came to UK in March 2012?

Please help as I was about to post application but got doubtful at the very last stage.

Did you read the standard requirements, for your own benefit? What do they say about "continuous period"?

I confused Bc with ILR.

There is no such requirement for BC .. Even if 5 years constituted 6 months visit visa.. she would have been okey! Thanks a lot Mehta Ji!

Another one: how can i request documents back whilst applying for naturalisation?

Many thxx....

If not applying through NCS, you may request for your documents to be returned here.
