Minimum time to be spent in UK after ILR for naturalization

Apologies if this has been asked previously:
What is the minimum time one should spend in UK after getting ILR to be eligible for naturalization/citizenship?
Should that time period be contiguous or there can be break(s) in between?
Reason for asking - I may have to travel for work outside UK for 6-12 months.
