Re: biometric letter not received

Post by DAC000 » Sat Aug 08, 2015 12:39 pm

No, just the bar-coded letter.
Huh? The Post Office asked for my passport then refused to process my biometrics since the Home Office left out my middle name. It was on my AN Form, and I submitted via NCS.

I'm still waiting for a replacement. Have sent two emails and one Royal Mail recorded letter.

So what would the Post Office do if an applicant has not applied through NCS and therefore doesn't have his passport?
Does the letter from Home Office state that an identity document is required to be presented at the post office along with the bar-coded letter? If not, PO cannot ask for an ID.

yes, it says you must bring photographic ID, suggests either a passport or drivers license.

When I presented my passport the clerk noted the omission and refused to process, saying it would cause me problems later. I don't generally use my middle name, told her as much and said I didn't mind if just my first and last names were noted but she was adamant.

She wrote on the letter refused by Post Office, noted the reason as well as date & time.

I immediately mailed a photograph but (surprise, surprise) the Home Office didn't reply.

I sent a Royal Mail recorded letter two days later, but I'm still waiting. I'll send another letter this week and will copy my MP. I just want to insure there is a clear trail of their problem so I won't lose my application fee.

Post by applyforILR » Thu Aug 13, 2015 11:31 am

Hi, I received acknowledgement letter on 20th July 2015 (dated 15th july 2015) but havent received biometrics request letter yet.
Is there anyone in similar situation??

Is there any contact number to call for biometrics?

I tried calling the naturalization number but that has option only for application done earlier than 6 months.

I have a slightly different problem, got an acknowledgement but my biometric letter is wrong. Somehow they omitted my middle name and the Post Office refused to process.

I sent emails but, as others noted, they don't reply. Not even an auto-reply to let you know they've received your query.

I've escalated this to my MP, and provided her with proof I'd already sent a letter requesting a correct biometric letter. Her representative was familiar with the problem.

Given the sums of money involved I'd suggest you send the Home Office a letter noting the problem, and copy your MP.

URGENT --- got biometric invite and not in uk

Post by applyforILR » Thu Sep 03, 2015 11:13 pm

After waiting for biometric so long we travelled to India as my maternity leave is about to end. Had given mailbox keys to a friend to check for biometric letter.. And it has arrived today dated 28 Aug.. So effectively have to get biometric done by 11 sept...
Is there any way out instead of travelling back to UK?
The letter says to email if u r unable to get it done.. But will traveling be considered a valid reason or the application b rejected?

URGENT- biometric Last date??

Post by applyforILR » Fri Sep 04, 2015 9:51 am

I got biometric letter dated 28 aug ... What is the last date when I can get it done?
Will it be 18 sept or 21sept?
It says within 15 working days but I m not sure if 28 Aug will b counted as day 1.
Every day matters as currently I m outside UK and had return travel for 20 sept... Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

You have 15 working days from the date of the letter (not date of receipt) to enroll biometrics.
If you don't they will send a second letter. When will they send the second letter is anyone's guess.
If you do not enroll biometrics even then , then your application will be returned as invalid.

Because you chose to travel outside UK as your maternity leave was coming to an end may not be reason good enough for them, but you are out of choices! Either inform them of your inability and see if they can have the biometrics done at a visa application center in the country you are in / allow you extra time, or cut short your holiday. Your choice!

Re: biometric last date

Thanks sushdmehta.

My query was if the count of working days starts on the date of the letter.. 28 Aug in my case,... If 28 aug is day 1 then 15 days r over on 18 sept otherwise on 21 sept.( assuming Saturdays ( working days for post offices) are not counted as working days)!! I know I m confusing at times :D
But to simplify my life I m cutting short my trip and returning on 14 sept hoping 15 working days will still not b over then!

P.S. I will amend this post next time instead of creating any new post for naturalization queries.

"Within 15 days" could be read to mean date of letter is day 1 so enrol by 14 days after date of letter.
Clearly you don't want be the one to discover the window has just expired (despite the lifeline of a last-chance 2nd warning letter)
