Spanish Schengen Visa Incorrectly Issued, Lost Holiday

Post by rhythm_doctor » Sat Sep 05, 2015 4:41 pm

Hi, could anyone advise me the best route on this matter please, i had a family holiday booked to Tenerife for myself, my wife and my daughter, all the details of the holiday were submitted including flight details, accommodation details etc and the application form was filled out correctly. We asked for a visa to be issued four our holiday from 23rd August till the 2nd September, the visa was issued on 17th August, we got to the airport and found that the visa had been issued to begin from 1st September till 30th September, my wife was not allowed to go and i had to take my daughter on my own. VFS Global made an error even after every single piece of information was supplied, what can i do?

Thanks in advance, kind regards, Pete

Normally it is the duty of the visa holder to check the data at the visa sticker.

Even though it is their error? Can anything be done about this then? It is because of their incompetence that my wife was refused her flight. She was in tears, was not a pleasant experience...

You had the possibility to correct the error. You can only blame yourself.

If you are a EEA citizen maybe a arrangement via the marriage certificate could have been possible.
I guess the airline denied boarding.

I am indeed an EEA citizen (British), we didn't take our marriage certificate with us

How can they make such a mistake? Would this have been at VFS or at the Spanish embassy? I'm not sure how it works to be honest...

Shit happens and there is often a way out of it if you don't fall in panic.

It is the embassy that issues visas. VFS is just the middle man.

Constructive feedback is treated as a complaint and an opportunity for continuous improvement. Assurance of a timely response and resolution of the grievance as per the organization’s complaint handling procedure is committed.

Perhaps a better service for the next applicant.

A visa for a family member of a EEA citizen should be free.

The cost was £47.40 through VFS & £14.80 for return by special delivery, there was also an admin fee i believe not to mention a £48 train ticket for my wife to travel to London

It's not a case of having nothing better to do
