I think these cases sit in a pile on someone's desk and are not attended to unless a gentle nudge nudge wink wink (such as a request for a return of passport) brings the file to the top of pile.
I also applied using UKM from the US. I applied back in April. I'm still waiting for a decision but was never sent any biometics invitation letter like applicants in the UK are receiving. I contacted the HO regarding this and they said to wait for my application decision which can take up to 6 months. I have about 1 month left before the 6 month mark. I haven't seen anyone applying from the US who had to do biometrics so maybe its just UK applicants that need to do this?Cloverbea wrote:Eliza,
Have you been notified to do your biometrics yet? The reason I am asking is that in another thread, another poster has been notified that there are no biometric centres for him to do his enrolment in the USA and I am wondering if this is why your application is taking so long. My husband just applied via UKM on September 1 from the US and I'm wondering if we're going to have the same issue. I'm looking for someone who was successful from the USA in getting their UKM approved, biometrics and all!
Now being told the US applicants aren't required to do biometrics if you applied before the official roll out date which was in May. They said my application made it before the deadline for rollout which was in May.Cloverbea wrote:Mike we all have to do biometrics.
My hubby applied from the US on Sept.1, received in Liverpool Sept. 3 and fees were taken on Sept. 11.
That is super fast from everything I've been reading and a couple of other people who have applied months before us like April and May are just now having their fees debited, so I'm hoping this is the process being finished for all of us!
Glad all went wellSK413 wrote:Eligibility criteria: UKM

Summary of biometrics enrolment. Might be helpful for someone and also info for mods.
Biometrics enrolment letter explains how to book appointment via website http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/Global/
Biometrics for Barbados and other Caribbean Islands are done at Hilton Hotel. Appointments are twice a month and the dates of every month of the year are fixed and listed on website. Other visa applicants are given date and time for appointment. Two employees from the British High Commission in Jamaica comes to Barbados and sets up for biometrics. It's called Temporary Enrolment Location (TEL).
The website has its challenges. After setting up my account and paying the £10.00 fee (there is a list for countries that have to pay) for some strange reason I could not get my receipt printed as I kept getting the message "There are no records found for given reference number." In my haste to get my receipt and also not miss my booking for 18/11/2015 I tried reprinting and unfortunately payment went through 5 times. I took a screen shot print out of payment and took that with me.
I went for my biometrics today, (my name was not on the list for todays appointments but the lady said its not an issue as mine is UKM and there is no appointment for this and the biometrics enrolment letter is ok. I stressed out myself unnecessary over receipt ) I presented my biometrics enrolment letter and explain the issue of receipt and presented print out of screen shot of payment. I was told all is well, I was called in second and biometrics was done. I must say, the two ladies where very professional and courteous. They explained how I can get my refund and they said that the website is having challenges.
Now it's wait. One thing I learnt very quickly in all of this is, don't panic and stress yourself out.
Cheers.
The letter saying you can go abroad while they have your passport is just icing on the stupidity cake. You can't just walk into any place because the biometric enrolment, because as I understand it, the letter they send you has barcode information that links back to the UK and your application specifically. 3 weeks ago I contacted the email address their letter gave me to contact should I not be able to wait until next year to hear about centers finally opening in the US. I told them I'd go to Canada like they offered, but I need the letter, and yet still no response from them...Cloverbea wrote:Eligibility Criteria: UKM

Hubby is the applicant, but we haven't received anything from the Home Office, nothing about biometrics in October or January.....thinking of calling the MP in the county his parent(and where we'll be living) to see if I can get something rolling...I know its only been two months, but our plan was to move to England in March having given it plenty of time for the 6 months Home Office said it would take. Another option is to send hubby to England where he could walk into any post office and register those stupid biometrics...but then we'd have to get his passport back :\ ....something else I just thought of, applying for a second passport for hubby and letting him go to Canada or the UK and get it done....this is getting crazy. They offer you the option of going to Canada or Mexico, yet they have your passport
