Category A or B?

Post by naija99 » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:15 pm

Dear Forum
Please can you advise for a friend who works as a senior healthcare assistant. She started employment in June 2014 on £8.21 per hour on a 36 hour week contract. Then in January 2015 her hours increased to 48 hours each week. so from June 2014 to June 2015, her gross pay look like this:
June 2014- £591.12
July 2014 - £1523.37
Aug 2014 - £1614.66
Sept 2014 - £1599.88
Oct 2014 - £1322.30
Nov 2014 - £1477.80
Dec 2014 - £1446.44
Jan 2015 - £1584.12
Feb 2015 - £1718.76
Mar 2015 - £1655.38
Apr 2015 - £1909.21
May 2015 - £1734.83
June 2015 - £1930.72

Would we be right in saying that she should apply under Cat B non salaried?

Hi

I have same situation like yours.

I have applied under category A Non Salaried Employment
I work as security officer on hourly rate.

My income is variable for almost every month but over £1550 which includes overtime.

I have shown 6 months pay slips, 6 months bank statements, Employment letter covering all the details) Two years P60 and thankfully Pay- roll letter and if you have contract that is good.

In Guidance

Where the person is in non-salaried employment – the level of gross annual
employment income relied upon in the application will be the annual equivalent of the
person’s average gross monthly income from non-salaried employment in the 6 months
prior to the date of application (where that employment was held throughout that period).
To calculate this annualised average for non-salaried employment in Category A the
following calculation should be used:
(Total gross income from employment held throughout the 6 month period, divided by
6) multiplied by 12 = Income from non-salaried employment that can be counted towards
the financial requirement.

Example (c)
The applicant’s partner is in non-salaried employment in the UK. He works on a weekly rota
basis and does not receive any paid holidays. He has earned £450 each week in the same
job for the last 7 calendar months, except for the week prior to the date of application when
he earned £150 owing to a holiday.
Non-salaried income = (gross earnings from employment held throughout the 6 month
period, divided by 6) x 12
= ((25 weeks x 450 + 1 week x 150) ÷ 6) x 12
= (11,400 ÷ 6) x 12
= £22,800
So the financial requirement is met through Category A non-salaried employment.

Hope all of this helps

I'm in similar situation and will be applying under Category B because my pay has dropped below £1550 in some months, but I have had payrises and lump sum pay. You could apply under category B, but you can also apply under category A if the current wages is over £18,600.

What about july August 2015

If they are above 1550 then she is ok under category
A. Means last 6 months are above 1550

From March till August 2015
Or April - September. She is good to go under Category A

If July August and September Pay are above 1550 pounds then apply under category A non salaried employement and just show 6 months pay slips, bank statements, employement letter and contract. I can see from march til june is above 1550.

Kindly do confirm again :).Do not just rely on my info.
But i have already applied so Good Luck

If you are in non salaried employment the £1550 a month does not matter. As long as you have earned an average of £9300 in the 6 months prior to the application you can use category A.

Just the last Payslip and bank statement. Basically you need all of the statements up till your application and the last one needs to be dated within 28 days of your application.
