I wish I could keep my indian passport as well like other countries allow to keep their with British passport.
I am sure in few years indian govt. will also allow but donot want to wait
as british rules are getting tough.

Just a thought -- I wonder what is the detection rate of criminals that break the law by not notifying the home country authorities they got British Citizenship...

after getting the BC
am I allowed to work in India or do I need visa for that?
OCI is also a work permit for india?

No institution will brand someone as a "criminal" if he/she doesn't notify the home country. Hypothetically, lets assume that you lived in the UK for 10 years got arrested and ended up in jail in a country where it is categorised as an offence to carry and use the old passport, then your defence lawyer will have a smile on his face :)
