@ ahersab, Yes I had conviction in 2009 for not wearing seat belt, pay €120 fine, and refused to take breath sample on the street but took in the gardai station , but nothing were found on my breath, charge to court pay € 800 fine. Although thatw as 6/7 years ago .My application has been on the Q to be submitted to the minister since September 2014 . sometimes they said is back different info. I also emailed them, they replied me that my application is been prepared to be submitted to the minister. My application is now 15 months.

You're at a stage where Garda and all other departmental checks are being carried out by the INIS on your application. This could take 2 - 3 months on the average. Good luck!

Application process takes an average of six to nine months but any application over this average period and still pending is not too good. For you to have your application pending in over 15 months obviously indicates there's a serious issue somewhere. You probably have a crime issue along the line i guess. Therefore, it may be that your application is deliberately delayed to punish you for something you did wrong during your residency. My advice is that you keep your hope alive and just patiently wait and luckily you may be considered for an approval sooner than you think. It shall come to pass... Good luck!

After 23 months, I finally got my approval letter on 04/09/2015. Paid the fee, sent off my GNIB and Passport photos on 05/09/2015. Has anyone heard anything about when the next ceremony is? There's usually one late September/ early October right?

I see you had a long wait (23 months) Can you please share your timeline and possibly reasons for the delay as that would help others still waiting on a decision

Thanks! My application was never officially deferred for any reason and the last time they had requested additional docs from me was August 2014. I think the reason my application took so long to be processed was because I was applying for an exception based on my Irish associations.
At the time of application (October 2013) I had been married to my Irish husband for 6 months. Previous to that I had lived in Ireland from 2001 to 2011 ( travelled abroad from 2011 - 2013), however I was enrolled in university from 2008 to 2011. As a rule, individuals that have Stamp 2/2A permission to remain is considered reckonable only in very limited circumstances. A concession can be made where an applicant is under 24 years of age on a Stamp 2/2A, in which case their parents reckonable residency can be used for the period in question provided the applicant entered the State as part of a family unit and registered with GNIB at age 16 (which I did).
However at the time of application I was 24years and 9 months so did not qualify outright. So I applied for an exception highlighting that I had lived in Ireland for 10 years, attended secondary school and university here, I was now the spouse of an irish citizen, and that many of my family members were now Irish citizens. Like I say, the complex nature of my case is what caused the delay in my situation.

Here is my timeline below:
Applied: October 2013
Second Stage: December 2013
Request for additional docs: April 2014 (confirmation of employment, social welfare)
Request for additional docs: August 2014 (Police Clearance checks from South Africa and South Korea)
Advanced stage: April 2015
Sent to Minister: June 2015
Approval: 03 September 2015

Hope that helps, good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Nope that was only the Irish rugby coach and the one South African player that were made Irish citizens that day. Probably for the world cup or something.

I think the reason the asked for me to provide those was because in 2011 I went back to South Africa for 9 months and from 2012 to 2013 I was living in South Korea. I dont think they would have requested police clearance unless you were living outside Ireland recently.
