Aren't you an immigration consultant?
Shouldn't you be telling us.....?
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.
People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

And why make a reference to EU citizens? They are treated no differently to non-EU citizens for naturalisation purposes.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Just because I'm a caseworker doesn't mean that I know EVERYTHING now does it??! In any event I'm trying to help my clients and would like to find out more about the ppron method and how this works. Don't understand why people have to make these useless comments... very unprofessional...

Well immigration1,
I hope you don't work for the BIA, but then they too also seem not to know everything!

Ummmm, I'm not sure if you've noticed or not but this is an internet forum, where people make comments, useless or not. If you want professional advice then go speak to a solicitor.

Regardless of who asked the question and personal feelings, can someone answer the question because thousands are waiting on the answer.
All I read on this so far is all about British citizens, how does it apply to EU and spouse.
Please a full explanation from somebody who really knows, no personal feelings please, we have got to keep this out of the site to work fully because a lot of people want answers not bickering.

Don't be lazy, use the search function! This question is asked over and over again and there are already plenty of posts on this board explaining in detail how the PPRON method works.

Which I acknowledge but not in relation to Eu citizens and family.

Love the tread was misleading from the start with the Title and if you want to know anything more about the PPorn method, as Dawie has already said use the search, the details are there, just read!

You clearly have no idea of how it works because if you did you wouldn't be asking this question.
The main difference between applying based on marriage to a British citizen and applying otherwise is that the length of residency in the UK required prior to application changes from 3 years to 5 years.

love, the 'ppron method' works only if the spouse in question is a British national. It does not work if the spouse in question is an EEA national from any other country.
but how does it work when none is British?
So, in short, it doesn't!

Dawie, even if it changes from 3 to 5 years the core question was can you still use it after 5 years instead of waiting for six years (ilr + 1 yr)

Any person who is applying for Citizenship without being married to a British will have to held ILR/PR for atleast 1 year. This makes it impossible to apply for Citizenship unless married to a BC using the method or otherwise without having held the ILR/PR for atleast an year.
