Continuous residency - ILR

I have been on a combination of Tier 2 and Tier 1.

During my time on Tier 2, I am assuming I will need a letter from my employer to prove that I was on annual leave.

For Tier 1, I work as a contractor and I have my own company. Can I show a letter from my company with my signature to prove I was on annual leave? Would this be accepted ?
Or
Is there any other way this can be proved?
