Tier2 extension issue regarding Cos dates

HI all
I applied for extension last week and i paid fee for 3 years.
But the cos is generated for 5 years.
I received a letter yesterday frtom ukvi to pay Visa fee for total 5 years as my cos dates are for 5 years.
I contacted my hr and they added a sponsor note ( reduced cos dates to 3 years instead of 5) to my cos and they gave me a supporting letter stating the change.
I posted the documents to UKVI instead of paying 5 years fee.

Will they consider the change? or my application will be rejected?

I am having similar problem. MY Cos is for another 4 years however I have completed 3 years on tier 2 already, So I can only get another 3 years of extension. I confirmed it with UKBA helpline number and they have said the same. They asked me not to worry and just apply for 3 years visa.
Please let me know what happens to ur case.

Got another letter today, still they are asking to pay for 5 years.
So i don't want to take any chance, im going to pay for 5 years and wait for the result.

Hi. Thanks for replying.
How early can I apply, My present visa is valid till jan 2016. One of the helpline staff said to me I can only apply 28 days before my visa expires. However Tier 2 guidance doesnt say anything like this.
Please let me know
