Engineering Council (UK) points for HSMP

Post by tabcd » Thu Oct 25, 2007 7:04 pm

Hi all

I am a Chartered Structural Engineer (M.IStruct.E) from UK and has got accrediation from Engineering council (UK) but I dont have any other engineering degree except a Diploma. I am already working in UK since 3 yrs and I want to apply for HSMP. Can any us let me know how many points I can claim for M.IStruct.E with C.Eng status ? It is not clear from HSMP site about their points for professional qualifications.

Thanks in advance

Hi tabcd,

Take a look at the official HSMP guidance document (http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/6353/1 ... ?version=1), page 25.

Whatever (highest) educational qualifications you hold, have to established to be equivalent to a "UK Bachelors", "UK Masters" or a "UK PhD", and correspondingly you will earn 30/35/50 points. The agency which does this job is NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centre), see http://www.naric.org.uk/. They provide you with a "letter of comparability", which you will need to submit with the HSMP application.

I hope this helps.
