Quick question....

Post by try-one » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:08 am

Hello,
I tried to find an answer on the old posts and couldn't...
does anyone know if having a MSc from a UK unversity, without a Bachelors degree would still give points on the HSMP application??
On all Home Office documents they mention the Masters degree without mentioning the BSc....is there an expectation from the HO that the individual would hold a BSc?? or is it appropriate to assume that by having only the MSc the person is fullfiling the requirements?
thanks for any feedback

Dear M8,
It is obviously understood that if a perosn have a MSc degree, he must have a B.S. degree to get admission into a master's programme. while getting an approval for HSMP, if u r claiming 35 points for being Master's, u wont need to show ur bachelor's degree but it is understood that u already have a bachelor's degree. and BTW which Uni gave u admission in MSc without seeing ur Bachelor's degree??????????

This depends. If, for exaqmple, you had been studying at a University in Scotland, you would only get a Masters, as Scottish Uni's only do 4 year degree courses with a Masters at the end.

It is up to you to prove that this was a 4 year course which combined the two courses.

Thank you Victoria;
Many UK unversities require the individual to either have a BSc or have "experience". Recognised universities allow people to get a 1 year MSc without a BSc; would this cause a problem with the case worker? not showing/not having a BSc?
Canadian and Australian immigration provide incremental points for number of years of education; UK immigration is based on BSc, MSc and PHd......is this a mistake on their part?
