UK2005, I think i have the same issue.. I called up Liverpool council but they say they have suspended the ceremonies so I need to call up another council, i think it is normal these days as some council are cutting their expenses:)

Nationality rules/laws and immigration rules/laws are completely different and follow different processes by different departments.

Guys can someone please help with some advice.

I applied jointly with my wife at NCS and this weekend Home Office sent her a letter saying her Nigerian degree certificate is not a sufficient proof of English. In the same letter they requested either a NARIC confirmation or a print out of point based system confirming her degree qualifies for 10 points. They want these by 29 Nov.

Has anyone seen this kind of case before?
Is the PBS print sufficient as she has done the assessment today?
I have a UK degree which is fine but they didn't send my decision. Does that mean they will not respond to me until they have decided hers?

Please share relevant experiences

Hi , I think u should just be calm, I am not immigration expert, but I think she can book an B1 test in the next 3 days and get result and certificate before 29 November then submit it, worth trying , when did u apply?

I have even stopped praying for brown envelope now, not because our approvals have arrived but because we rather got a brown letter from HMRC for a penalty!!! No words to explain the frustration!

Just a small tip: if you are waiting for that brown envelope and ones come through the post .. check sender address in the back first. If its HMRC it will have their address on the back of the envelope. If its capital place Liverpool it will be HO

A very frustrating scenario.
HO replying to my email after a month with following reply
very straightforward case without any criminal record or driving offences. Any one in same boat ?

Our records show your application was received on 11 May and has not been processed within six months, as aimed for in our service standards. Unfortunately it is not always possible to complete every case within our service standards, particularly if an applicant has a complex immigration history or if further enquiries need to be made.

Published guidance has now been clarified to explain the factors that may contribute to a case being classed as complex.

Examples of relevant factors include:
Criminality,
Previous refusal of asylum,
Previous grant of a period of Leave to remain exceptionally outside the Immigration Rules,
Periods of overstaying between previous applications,
Evidence of illegal working or illegal entry,
European Nationals who do not provide evidence of Permanent Residence in UK,
Failure to comply with immigration reporting restrictions, and
Financial irregularities.

This is of course not an exhaustive list, simply an indication of some of the factors which would trigger a higher level of scrutiny, the relevant guidance can be found at:

All none complex cases continue to be decided well within our six month service standard. If a case cannot be decided within that timescale customers will be contacted individually as early as possible in the process to explain why.

Applied on 5th May, biometrics on 5th June, heard nothing so far.

Tried to find out the status via local MP this morning and I am told that our applications were being looked at yesterday and are still being looked at and there is no timeline still!! It is so frustrating, were they sleeping since June!!

Just called UKBA about the update. They advised to wait until end of nov and if i dont get any response then they will be able to check application status.

Another day gone...without any news!
Applied 5 may along with 3 children.husband applied in Oct 2014 and it took him 14 weeks in total to acquire his BP.anyways applied on an optimistic note on basis of10+ ILR via NCS bolton.biometric done on 13/07 and no correspondence since then....
Since it was a very straightfwd application+ spouse already BC+ children born in UK,was very confident that the process would be over in 4-5 months max. But here I am, reaching 6 mnths mark and still waiting for any decision!! Seriously,work practice of HO is pathetic to say the least!!
Would wait till Friday before contacting MP.

10 days left till the 6 month deadline and no news since the biometrics. I wonder how many of the HO staff have been on the receiving end of their own system and how long they had to wait?

Hi everyone,

Please, I want to find out if the New Law on Good Character (breaching of immigration status) will affect EEA permanent resident holder with 5yrs + 1yr PR, from applying for British Naturalisation. I have read about it, but I am not sure if EEA 5yrs + 1yr PR routes are affected. Can someone clarify me on this because I am worried that my application might be rejected due to years I spent in the country without a resident permit? Although, I have searched the forum and I have not seen anyone from this routes being rejected.
