Is "protector" required on a Tier 2 General visa from Pakistan?

What is 'protector'? Not everyone on the forum is from Pakistan and understand or has knowledge of things there.

Yes, for all work visas you have to get your passport stamped from Protectorate of Emigrants office. If you fail to do so, you might be stopped at the airport and denied boarding.

Interestingly, I did not know as well and came to know on the airport last week but eventually they let me board and asked to get it done next time! So wanted to have opinion of other members.

Hi,

Is this something new they have introduced? I am going to apply my wife's dependent visa next week.

As per my understanding, it only applies to the main applicant but no harm in checking.

It is only done if you are moving from Pakistan.

If you are already overseas Pakistani and move to UK it is not required.
