Applying for British Citizenship as a Student

Post by pogotosh » Sun Sep 13, 2015 6:28 pm

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone can clarify a citizenship question for me. I secured my ILR in June 2015 after being on Tier 2 (General) for the last 5 years. After securing my ILR, I resigned from my job and have joined a Full Time MBA Program in UK. I am aware that I will technically be eligible to apply for the citizenship in June 2016. However, I was wondering if anyone is aware as to whether I need to be employed Full Time to apply for my citizenship. Someone mentioned that to apply for citizenship, you need to be a continuing Tax Payer and considering I will not have paid tax for nearly a year at the time of my application next year, will this prevent me from applying for my citizenship. Can someone please clarify this for me ?

Thanks and Regards

Employment isn't a condition for British Citizenship.
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
