I have a criminal record

I was recently deported from the UK.
Before my deportation I had apply for residence permit via the EEA route.
Was denied on 2 grounds.
Not having a valid identification.
Having a criminal record.
I am now married to my long time EEA fiancée We tried travelling to Germany shortly after our marriage in Nigeria.
Sadly i was refused visa Germany I am currently appealing the,decision.
My criminal,sentence a,custodial one but it was,less than 12months although it was a handful of time can I return to the UK? Can I rebuild the bridge between myself and kids fro. Previous relationships? Would the D.O be a problem if I were to travel without visa?
