But 2010/2011 is in four years time slot so how can they refuse it?
So they are arranging a payment plans means they are updating it ?

Just called HMRC and they are saying
2010/2011 is still in 4 years time and that make sense because deadline of 2014/2015 is 31st Jan.
This is all confusing.

Hi All, Asking on behalf of a friend.
A friend of mine is in the process of tax amendments 2009/10 which is beyond 4 years. His accountant has sent an amendments to HMRC in July 2015 and still waiting for any updates however, his accountant informed him yesterday that HMRC may not update his tax. Due to some family issues my friend applied for 2nd extension this April so visa expiry is 2018 but ideally would like to apply ILR soon.
What are the options for those who can't Amend tax?
noting received from HMRC officially to confirm the claim of accountant .

Frankel,
I am struggling myself to understand this theory of not updating tax.
Because as above from Murazxa post HMRC agreed and accepted the return and make a payment plan.
So if HMRC is not doing and update then they are taking the payment for what? Does his accountant means SA302 will not be updated but will be reflecting in HMRC records. Your friend should ring HMRC himself today and get the full story.

Fingers crossed.

..................................
The letter received today states that " we are awaiting for official guidelines which are expected in a short time scale" which means amendments had not been accepted yet.
now i am not sure weather they will accept 5 year old tax ammendments in first place and if they do at what COST?
Good luck to everyone in similar situation

Hi Blocked Username,
Thanks for update.
I am in a same situation as you were.I am due to apply for ILR in next March 2016.
I want to update/amend tax return for year 2012 - 2013. so please let me know the procedure to update quickly.do I need to write to HMRC first place or can I ask my accountant to amend it as I think my accountant don't know how it works and he keep saying he will do when he get time. Please let me know what steps you have done to update your tax for 2011-2012.
Reply would be appreciated.
Kind regards

Step 1.
Please check your accountant qualification first . Are they geniune.
How on earth he a practising doesn't know how to send amendments.
My honest suggestion to you is change your accountant before day light tomorrow.
I have sent you the accountant details I used. Check your PM.

Tip- Do it yourself when it comes to HMRC or at least observe the process.
I got my ILR already and had same issues. Ac who is qualified and recognised by HO did send amendments but he was slow and did not chase it up.
Simple fact is no matter how good ac is they won't care about your case as much as you do.
I had to get involved and result was no more tiers for me.

I second ilrvisanow, accountant wouldn't care get your amendment done from any good but qualified accountant and then you will have to chase hmrc to get this done, however they would take atleast 3 to 5 months to amend..

All,
An update on tax return amendments. A friend of mine sent his amendments for the tax year ending 2012 and 2013 on 19th of october 2015 and his returns have been amended today. It is reflecting in his online account how much he has to pay. No penalty, only the tax due. HMRC has also given him time to pay till 30th of December.
All the best all.

Hi Blucandi and others .. could you tell me the process your accountant has followed during amendments..
My accountant just printed out SA of 2010-11 from the archive of HMRC website entered the details and written amended on the top. He also, attached a covering letter and I signed the letter for the amendments.
just could anyone clarify if they process is the same as stated above or .. did you guys do anything different,.

He did the amendment for 201-2013 which is in 4 years time limit so possibly thats the reason they were done quickly.
Otherwise I havent heard of anything different unless tax advisor is your relative.

Sent amendment letter on 9/11/15 . Called them end of november and they told me that letter will be actioned on 25/1/16.called them today to request early action. But they have already dealt and they have charged £500 intrest as well. Lady has said that even though tax amenment is actioned and they will send me a bill to pay but this charge won't change my records as it is beyond 4 years. But she has arranged a phone call from technical dep to expln further tax year 2010-11
