As long as you have the documentation to prove your self employment, salaries, bank statements, tax records etc, it shouldnt be a problem.

I would suggest provide as much information and documentation that can help your application.

If you have established your own company, then company details, VAT registration etc is good documentary proof. Bank accounts showing the that your business is active is also good strong evidence. If the business has done well or profitted then you have accounts, P&L, probably consulted an auditor, any or all of this is further proof of self employment which will make your case stronger. Further more if you have given yourself dividends or salary from your company, you are also paying taxes for it, those pay slips and tax/NI contributions etc are also proper evidence.

It should not be a problem if you are indeed economically active.
