I'd love to know! I rang my credit card company and they said that there were no blocks on the card (Halifax) -- though they said there's a small possibility on any large transaction that they would ring me before they put it through. I did not receive any such call, or miss one as far as I can remember.

I responded to the Home Office letter with identical details and they went through. I suppose there's a chance the details were wrong on the initial form, but I double-checked it and I believe the NCS checked it against the card too, the woman at Islington Council was quite thorough.

Bit frustrating as it seems to have slowed down the whole process! But at least I've done my biometrics now.

I can't remember if it was the AN form, the Guide, the Booklet or the payment slip - but it does warn about the bank possibly declining large payments and suggest informing your bank before so a note can be made on your account that payment of X is being made soon.

I've heard / read that 10 yrs plus 1 or 2 ilr candidates' an1 application three months longer than 5 yrs plus 1 or 2 yrs ilr candidates, is that right? As I'm planning for a trip abroad in February. Shall I hold it?

The home office states that applications can take up to 6 months - sometimes longer. Having said that - it seems you have done the biometrics already - so you won't risk being abroad when they request them.

It really depends how long your trip is - if you are unlucky - or lucky - to get your approval whilst away and you need to book the ceremony, you might not get the message and / or miss your appointment.

If you are worried then you can always ask people to keep an eye on your mail.
