What are the Requirements to register with GNIB?

Hello gurus!

I have a query about registering with Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB)

Actually I have read inis.giv.ie and it says - "Legally resident non-EEA nationals who have entered the State with the intention of residing in Ireland for a period of more than three months must register with their local immigration registration officer. An immigration certificate of registration (GNIB Registration Card) is issued by the Garda National Immigration Bureau to a non-EEA national who so registers".

As a non EU citizen waiting for the EU1 response in the state can go register with the GNIB? or do we need a letter from INIS (where we made our EU1) for the registration? What are the requirements to register with the GNIB?
Any comments on this please??

They will not register you without a prior registration in the state.

You will be asked to contact the department of justice eu treaty rights section, for confirmation of your status.

You know what today I have received my documents back but the letter is not saying anything about the stamp 4 registration, it has only listed the retuned documents what is this totally I don't understand! can I use this letter to obtain the GNIB registration? what do you think?!

Wow. Write to the department and tell them you did not receive an acknowledgement of your application.

They still will not register you without an acknowledgement.

seems they not response properly at the moment, if we email we only get a automated reply and nothing received for the letter posted about month ago, maybe I am little lucky at least received the docs but you know the letter contains a Person ID number in the left corner, would it be my reference number?

No I didn't get temporary with this letter because the GNIB officer said they need a letter from INIS stating that they allowed us to remain in the state so I contacted the Department of Justice and they send me the letter in couple of days to register and finally I got the temporary so what is your status?

I received the acknowledgement letter a few days ago. Just like your letter, it listed all the documents I submitted, but there is no reference to get the GNIB card from the local Garda station.
They also requested PRTB letter. We talked to the landlord many times. He still didn't get it. I don't know what to do if I can't get it.
I have sent them an email to ask for a letter to get GNIB.
By the way, did the second letter also come in registered post?

I sent the tenancy agreement, electricity bill, internet bill, bank statements. Now they ask for PRTB to be submitted within 15 working days. It's a headache. I wonder what could I do if I can't get the PRTB registration.

Don't worry so far you have provided suffice documents to prove your residence in the state but for any reason if you cannot supply PRTB, you should provide a written statement explaining why, so you can write it and send it to them by registered post.

Hi kunfayakun, thanks for your quick reply. Do you know anybody succeeded getting Stamp 4 FAM for 5 years by doing this (no PRTB, but a letter to explain why)?
I read in this forum and the information I get is there are people being rejected because they couldn't provide PRTB. I'm worried.

Many people actually do.

I was dealing with a case of family of 3.

All 3 did not provide PRTB and the department issued Residence Card after 4 months.

So PRTB is not a must , especially if Landlord occupies a portion of a home , or you are lodging with a friend or family rent free.

If Landlord occupies a portion of a home , or you are lodging with a friend or family rent free, or you own the place you live in, you are not required to register with PRTB.
PRTB is for people who are renting on their own, just like me.

That will solve the situation for you.

Why they didn't give you reference to get a temp stamp 4 in the first letter? Because they thought you didn't submit some important documents or did they simply forget to put the sentence in? Thank you.

I don't know if an application has been made for PRTB or not. I talked to the renting agent many times. He said he was going to get it every time. But haven't done it yet.

I'll wait for a few days for the landlord to register. Hopefully he would do it. I'll write a letter if I can't get PRTB at last.

I don't think you are required to register on PRTB if you live with friends. Lucky you!

No, we intend to live in Ireland. That's why I'm worried about getting rejected of 5 year visa because of no PRTB letter. What about you? Are you taking ss route to UK?

No, you don't. But you need it to get the 5 year stamp 4 if you are renting.
