You don't need anything except the registration number they gave you when you booked your interview. They didn't even check that with me, just confirmed my name with the appointment schedule.

Never received the interview letter but booked my interview by ringing interview booking line ( 0300 222 1000) 2 days after documents received by HMPO.

Interview lasted 15-20 mins and was general questions about my work, family life, no of credit cards, bank accounts ect and was more to check that I am real rather then some one else. I got few answers wrong like my mother's year of birth no of credit card I hold but still got the confirmation text message very next day that my passport is dispatched .

Something to check does every one has to receive SMS first and then receive passport or they can send passport without SMS , asking Bcoz I Applied passport Online and after passport interview its online status says Dispatched, now does it means they have send my passport ? as I have not receive any SMS yet.

I got 2 questions here, and really hope somebody can answer.

Can I simply make an appointment for interview even before I receive the invitation letter, like several have done as shown in this forum?

I sent out the applications through Check & Send last Friday, and today (only 4 working days) DX has sent back all supporting documents. But no sign of an invitation letter. I also received a text today saying "Your new passport should arrive within a few working days...". As it does not mention whose application it refers to (adults or the child), I guest perhaps it is for my child not myself. Have you heard of this type of text at all?

my interview is over,

i arrived chelmsford office without invitation letter, the person on reception desk was

you needed the receive letter, i said , havent received anything apart from my documents,

he was like , awwwww, ok, anyway , we will interview you,

i am sure very soon , it is gonna be mandatory to wait for letter.

interview was very short for me, questions were just the same, but she asked many questions about

my work, eventhough which chemical i use in the machines etc.. she asked what brand do you use,

i started to explain she said , ok thats enough i understood everything..

one weird question, where i park our car, i said some where on the street, she asked in front of the house

or somewhere nearby, i said we cant park the car overnight in front of house because of double yellow lines,

she said owww, ok...

she asked about the if we have high speed internet and which company, i said ''virgin '' and its really

fast, she said i am thinking to change mine , i said virgin is quite good..

she asked why i failed my driving exam, what were the faults ,

strange really.....

anyway, its finished and now , relaxing time. and waiting for the sms.......

i did mine without letter, but the guy on the reception desk didnt like answer that

i told him , i didnt receive any letter..

no idea what happens yours,

he didnt even look at my confirmation email paper that i printed out..

I dont think they are asking silly questions. The whole idea for me seems that they are checking your English skills and thats why they indulge you in an conversation.

May be I am wrong but this is what I can decipher from the posts on the forum

It’s NOT about your English skills. It’s about your identity.

If you are who you claim to be on the application, you will answer those questions very confidently and comfortably. If you are not the person on the form and are stealing someone else’s identity, you will fumble and your answers will be incoherent.

I got asked to describe my walk to work from home. The guy didn’t even know the area because I live in York and the interview was in Leeds but he was observing my answer and my behaviour. He would have general conversation with me about all sorts of matter and then suddenly fire 5-6 questions at me in quick succession. Again he just wanted to see if I am who I claim to be, by the way I handle those questions. Is my answer sincere or not.

As far as English skills go, there was another guy waiting who had a certified Punjabi translator with him for his interview. I guess he was somehow exempt from Language Tests for his ILR and Naturalisation applications.

no thats not about it, interview officer told me that , this is not checking your english level, its all about your identity, we dont want to send passport to wrong person, and then she started to bombard me questions.

plus when you are booking you can request interpreter. so thats explains everything.

i just received interview letter today dated 11 december and i just received 19 december, after 8 days

its coming from liverpool to my adress after 8 days.. bravoooo

still no news from passport, no text nothing..

Sorry to post this on Timeline.
My interview invitation letter has been sent out on Friday but passport office won't book an appointment until I receive my letter.
I know a lot of members called and booked appointment before receiving letter, I just wanted to know what option did you choose and what did you say?
I tried twice with no luck. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks for replies especially of bayraktar. Before interview I did feel a bit nervous - how if they refused to interview?

I called anyway without having the interview invitation letter. As the supporting documents were retured with a note saying my applications are being processed, I believe the info has been in their system. The reception did ask for the letters, and I just gave her the receipts by Post Office Check & Send, which have the ref. no. on. She did not say much and simply ask us to wait upon call for interview. That was it. Now waiting for the text and new passport.

i saw one of this letter that my friend applied and it doesnt say anything on the letter apart from

reference number and call this number bla bla bla.

so when i called the telephone they asked me did you receive the letter i said yes which i didnt ))

funny enough after 2 days of interview i received the letter..

i am also waiting for the text message, normally people receiving it right after the interview but

i havent received anything so far........

its a new desing one and very different than old one they just dropped it from mailbox..........
