Hello Everyone,

I hope you all keeping well..i try to help my close friend..my friend wife is on stamp 4 visa..she left the country 10 months ago because of some serious medical problems..my question is that when she will return to Dublin it's Dublin immigration officer could stop her or when she will go to INIS office to extend her visa they could make problem for her?due to long stay outside country.

any help much appreciated.

It could go either way I think.. Technically the visa expires after 6 months of absence if I'm not mistaken, however, the Irish seem to be a pretty relaxed bunch when it comes to that and she might be fine. Probably best to send them an email.

"Acceptable absences
Continuity of residence is not affected by the following:
• temporary absences not exceeding a total of six months a year; or
• absences of a longer duration for compulsory military service; or
• one absence of a maximum of twelve consecutive months for important reasons
such as pregnancy and childbirth, serious illness, study or vocational training, or a
posting in another EU country or a third country."

So in this case she's fine
