Tier 1 Dependent extension

Post by suresh505 » Sun Jan 03, 2016 5:32 pm

My wife holds a Tier-1 dependent visa that expires on Feb-28, 2016.
She is currently in India and is planning to travel to UK on Feb-24.
We are planning to apply for her extension on Feb-25.

My question is, will there be any issues at the airport in India when they notice that the visa is going to expire very soon? Is there any minimum number of days that should be remaining in the visa before we enter the UK?

Many thanks.

Tier 1 Dependent extension

Post by suresh505 » Sun Jan 31, 2016 10:09 pm

I have a tier-1 visa that expires in Nov, 2017. I become eligible for ILR in Jun, 2016.
My wife is a tier-1 dependent and her visa expires in Feb, 2016. She first came to the UK in Apr,2013 so she will have to stay until Apr, 2018 to apply for ILR.

If we apply for my wife's extension now, till what date will it be extended? Going through the documents, it seems they will extend until Nov, 2017 (until my visa expiry date). My wife will once again need to apply for extension before applying for ILR. Is there any way to avoid this? Please help.

There is no reason to start a new topic with questions on the same application for which you already have a thread. I have merged the two topics now.

If she applies for an extension now, it will be issued with an expiry in line with your current visa.

That's unfortunate. That means she has to apply twice even though she just needs two years extension.
