Long residence - does Tier 2 salary requirement apply?

Post by om82 » Thu Jan 07, 2016 11:38 am

I've been searching the boards for a while, and haven't found an answer to my question. Please post a link if I've missed something!

I'll be legally resident in the UK for 10 years in Sept 2019.

I will likely still be on my Tier 2 (General) visa at this time. But my salary will not meet the new minimum requirements for Tier 2 holders applying for ILR.

My question: If I'm applying under the 10 year long residence route, does it matter if I don't meet the salary requirements?

I'm guess I'm looking for confirmation that the 10 year long residence route and applying for ILR as a Tier 2 visa holder are two separate things.

Many thanks

The Rules change two-three times a year. That is a fair few times before you become eligible.

Will there even be a ten year route three years from now? We don't know. The 14 year route was amended to 20 years in the last Parliament.

I suggest keeping an eye on changes to the Rules on a regular basis and asking the question in 2018-19.
