Tier 2 (General) Sponsor being taken over

Hi, I need some urgent advice,

The company I work for, is thinking of selling out to a larger company. my question is,

Can the company (my current sponsor) just amend its details (Company Name and Head Office Address) in the Sponsorship Management System (SMS) to that of the new company as we are retaining the same office address as a branch of the new company. Or does the new company has to apply for its licence Afresh?
