Surrender of passport by post?

Post by applyforILR » Fri Jan 08, 2016 11:40 am

Can i surrender Indian passport by post? Do i need to send any additional docs for it?

Also, both my husband and I have to surrender the passports. Is it possible that my husband can surrender both our passports in person without me going in person? Will any additional docs be needed for this?

no, you have to submit application in person at one of VFS offices, depending upon your place/jurisdiction.

link mentioned by sham111 will give full details..

Briefly ... Docs required are:

1) Original Indian passport
2) Self Attested copy of all pages of Indian passport (On each page, write, This is true copy of the original, sign it and date it)
3) Self attested British photo page copy.
4) Self attested British / Foreign Naturalisation certificate
5) Two 50mm X 50mm passport size pics (refer photo spec on vfs website)
6) Fees
7) Online appointment print from VFS website.

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible that my husband can submit both applications in person( without me going to the vfs)?

I am asking these questions because there r posts where ppl have done it by post or without going to vfs.. but these posts are 2-3 yrs old. So not sure if it can be still done or not.

yes spouse can submit on your behalf. pls make sure you give authorisation letter for husband to submit docs on your behalf. Ensure you have signed whereever it is required. Also take proof of relationship like Marriage certificate.
