Can I apply Naturalisation for my son as well?

Post by Aarav2015 » Fri Jan 08, 2016 2:55 pm

Hi ,

Am due for my Naturalisation. My son born in India and we have applied Child settlement visa which we are going to get soon. Once my son is back here can I apply Naturalisation for me and my son ?

Or

First I need to get my naturalisation done then only I can apply for my son is it? Or Do I need to wait until I get my British Passport to apply for my son Naturalisation.

Any experts please advice.

Thanks

No, you can't because minors don't naturalise adults do. Minors register!!

If child is granted ILE, you may make your naturalisation application and his registration application at the same time.

Thanks. I can't apply for my wife naturalisation as she was in India for almost an year. So can I apply for my naturalisation and at the same time can I register my son? The Section 3(1) says as below:

"Where one or both parents are applying for British citizenship they may apply for one
or more children who are not automatically British at birth (see “Automatic acquisition
of British citizenship” above) to be registered as British citizens as part of a “family
application”. Children in this category will be considered at the Home Secretary’s
discretion and will usually be registered only if both the parents are granted or already
hold British citizenship, or if one parent holds British citizenship and the other is
settled in the UK."

Could some one help me please.

If you are worried then apply for your naturalisation first. After you are naturalised then apply for your child's registration.
