Long term parents visitor visa beyond passport expiry

Post by Reckon » Sat Jan 09, 2016 6:58 pm

Hi Forum,

I'm from India and My parents visit me annually around summer for 2-3 months (for the past 4 years). I applied for 6 months visa each time. Now I got ILR and this time I want to apply for 5 year long term, but my parent's Indian passport is expiring (due for renewal) in Dec' 2017. My query is, can I still apply for long term visa? Does it gets transferred to new passport when my parents will renew the passport in Dec' 2017?

I have seen few other posts on this forum in search of the answer, but couldn't spot it. Any replies would be highly appreciated

Thanks in advance

You might want to try the 2 year visitor visa first before you aim for a 5 year.

I believe that a long term visitor visa will be issued with the same expiry as a passport, but I stand to be corrected.

Thanks CR001 for the quick reply. I'll give a try for 2 year visitor visa as advised.

Requesting any members of the forum to reply to this post who have successfully applied visitor visa beyond passport expiry. I'll try to contact Visa and Immigration and will update this thread.

Thanks.
