Health Surcharge Re-use or refund process

Post by cyborg001 » Wed Jan 13, 2016 4:59 pm

Hello,

I was trying to book a FLR(M) PEO appointment online. The layout is quite unintuitive and so in error I added my future wife (a British citizen) as my dependent (instead of sponsor) for my application as she would be attending the appointment with me on the day I book slot. I then paid the IHS of £500 (as she is exempt being British) but it showed the total application fees as £2098 (i.e. 2 applicants) whereas it should just be £1049 for me only.

The upon re-logging on it asked me to enter my details again each time (rather than let me continue) so I ended up creating 5 incomplete/open duplicate applications under "My Account"!

So what I need is to remove the duplicate applications and either:
1.Remove my "dependant" from the first application which has an IHS associated with it so that it is just for me with £1049 fees and I can continue
2.Allow me to add this IHS to one of the other applications for me only to proceed without paying again
3.Remove all my applications and allow me to create a new one with this existing IHS
4.Remove all applications and refund my paid IHS so I can start a new fresh application with a new payment

Please let me know what can be done please or is paying IHS again the only way by creating new application? Such a lame system that doesn't just allow you to use existing IHS!

Thanks!

Oh and can I take my sponsor wife with me to the PEO? Do I need to book for 2 people somehow?

Your sponsor should attend with you and no, an appointment only for you as the applicant.

If your spouse/sponsor cannot attend with you, they have to provide a letter of support and explain why they cannot attend.

IHS you have to 'apply alone' and NOT enter your spouse details. Surcharge fee should only be £500.

Right OK, so I don't need to add her name while booking appointment and just take her along on the day to PEO and they will let her in.

I have already paid this £500 and have an IHS number but this is associated with the form in which I mistakenly added her as dependant so it is telling me to pay £2098 instead of £1049 for application fee. How do I remove her from this application or use this IHS in a new one or get it refunded so I can pay again in a fresh application? This is the bit that's confusing me! :)

I am not familiar with the online processes as have not had any experience in them. Hopefully someone can answer your questions soon.

Anyone? What if I now don't want to make an application at all and want my IHS money back? I paid IHS while booking PEO appointment online and not via the IHS portal. Why would they make this so hard and almost seem like robbery?!

Got my answer. You either need to ask for refund during your PSC appointment or email: pscappointmentrefunds@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
