Citizenship Change Notification

Post by ZEBRA » Thu Jan 14, 2016 4:08 pm

Hello :) .
I'm due to attend the Citizenship ceremony soon. What are the importing things to do after becoming British?
ie.
Returning the current BPR to home office?
Register for vote?
Apply passport?
Notify any department regarding the change of new citizen? eg. bank, hmrc etc
and anything else I should know?

I tried to search if any similar post but couldn't find. please help.

Regards :)

Probably more of a 'Settling In' question than a BC type of question.

That's about it.

No real need to do this unless you have specific instructions to do so: Notify any department regarding the change of new citizen

Have you got a NI number (if you need one)?
&
You could apply for an EHIC (for health cover) if you plan to travel to Europe.

You should probably notify the country of your current nationality too. I know that my home country (Finland) requires their citizens to notify them if they gain another countries citizenship so they can add it to their records in the population information system.
