Travelling After Receiving Citizenship

Post by RoyW » Mon Jan 18, 2016 5:44 pm

I need help: if I have UK passport, can I still travel with my residence permit card (that is not expired) and my old passport outside of EU and coming back to UK? If I received UK passport is my residence card still official and legal to travel?
Thank you

If you are referring to a UK BRP then: No.

BRP is to be returned within 5 days of naturalisation.

It is Indefinite leave to remain card, I am not sure if its the same as BRP, but when I was applying for naturalization, I was told that my ILR card is official until it expires at least?

Yes, for ILR you have a BRP (id) card.

I believe you were misinformed by that advice.
It is rendered null & void by the act of naturalising as a citizen.

Note It is to be returned 5 days after naturalising.

Yes. It is now included in the new AN application form which has just been released. Updated 8th Jan as evident in the link Noajthan posted for you.

Just curious as to why you would ever want to enter the UK on your foreign passport, if you already have a British passport? You would be expected to enter the UK with your British passport if you have one.

Unless perhaps you are concerned about the time it takes for the British passport to be issued once you are naturalised.
