Tier 2 General to Tier -2 dependent and 10 Years ILR Options

Post by Migrantworker » Mon Jan 25, 2016 10:25 am

Hello folks

This site is a great platform for insights into immigration matters concerning UK immigrants.

To discuss my question , I am currently on Tier -2 sponsorship from my employer , who is very restricting and does not offer good career prospects going forward.
I came to UK for studies in 2008 and have been here on the basis of PSW and Tier -2 workpermit after completing my studies ( I have completed 2.7 years under Tier -2)

My partner is currently on Tier -2 work permit as well and due to current visa restrictions we are considering to switch and apply as his Tier -2 dependent.

1. I believe I will have do this switch from India is that correct?

2. My question is will it affect my 10 years legal stay options ? I am eligible for ILR on the basis of 10 years legal stay in Sep 2018.

Thanks in advance for all who shed some light on this topic

1. You can switch to Tier 2 G dependent within the UK. You do not have to leave the UK and apply from home country.

2. No. Any legal residence counts as long as you are within the absence limit.

Hi. I will be 10 years living in UK legally in September 2016.
What is the earliest day I can Apply for 10 years long residence ?
Some websites says I can apply 28 days before I complete 10 years but other people
says that I have to wait until the exactly day when completing 10 years.

I am a bit confused.

Could you tell me what is the right one please......?

I really appreciate it
Thank you

Your circumstances have no relation to this thread. It is rude to just tag onto other posters topics with your questions and even more so when your questions have nothing to do with the category of visa in the thread.

According to your previous posts, you are Italian. Please continue in your other thread.
