Spouse Visa Entry Clearence Certified Copy of Sponsor

Post by elizabethgrantsmith » Mon Feb 01, 2016 4:14 pm

Hi,
Does anyone know

1. Is it mandatory for spouse visa entry clearence that you must include a certified copy of your spouse's passport who is in the UK?
2. Should it be every single page of the passport and for all passports?
3. Where and how can you get them attested if attestation is necessary?

A solicitor who is also a notary public

The post office also provides the service at a small fee.

Are you definitely sure that the person needs to be a Solicitor as well as a Notary? Or just Notary

You need a certified copy, the post office can do this (for a small fee). I have used them myself in the past.

How long ago roughly was it when you used the Post Office service? Because in 2016 HO is little bit more strict.
Post office is very reasonably priced but i dont know if HO accept in 2016

A couple of years ago. The copies need to be certified, not notarised. Post Office should be accepted.

Any. They are certifying that the copy is a true reflection of the original.

Is it mandatory to send CERTIFIED copy of British passport for spouse visa? I am finding conflicting answers on this forum. Can someone please share source where it mentions about certified copies?

I have recently filed an application for my Wife to join me in UK under "Wife-Settlemen" but have only provided them with photocopies of my british passport - Can someone please advise if I was to send attested or certified or notarised copies of my passport? If yes, I'm super confused as this wasn't mentioned anywhere on the supporting document's list!!

Will be great to get an answer for above.

Is a certified copy required for a British passport of sponsor as well? Seems absurd as they have the passport number and photocopy so can easily verify
