Combining foreign cash saving with uk saving & category A

One of my British friend has about £13000 cash saving abroad and about £20000 cash in uk current account. Moreover he is doing a zero hour job where number of working hours varied each month and working for same employer for the last 8 months but his average wages per month is about £1300. Can the foreign savings which are at abroad with local currency be able to combine with uk saving and uk job to meet maintenance requirement to sponsor spouse from abroad??

Your friend's employment may come under Cat A or CAT B depending on the circumstances .

Thanks obie yes obie it's not difficult query I guess. But he do zero hour job where earning significantly vary each week. So is it correct that after using category A/B criteria if the maintenance is still short then can he clear up the maintenance difference by using few some savings abroad with uk savings? But how HO usually recognize and count foreign saving which is in foreign currency but genuinely held in sponsor name??
