New laws...

Post by oschayels » Fri Dec 07, 2007 7:37 pm

Just a question... Will the new laws on immigration affect the people already here? For example, I know somebody who is on a 5 year work permit as a chef (he's been here in the UK for 2 years), he doesn't speak English very well, when he applies for ILR will the new laws i.e. the highly skilled thing have any affect on his case? He thinks it's pretty certain that he'll get his ILR once his 5 years are up. But being a chef in an Indian take-away isn't really classified as highly skilled.

He also wants to apply for his wife to come over, but is it possible he can call her over? And would he need to provide any type of evidence to help his case? He's earning 800 pounds (sorry pound sign isn't working) a month, he's living with his sister, doesn't pay rent or anything (still never has any money), he has a few overdrafts and quite a hefty balance on his credit card. Will any of these have a negative affect?

yes, it might - they did last time.

It sounds as though bringin his wife in could well be tricky.
