EU Spouse visa. Chinese Spouse, requested at Beijing Embassy

Hi All!

I am a french citizen married to a chinese. She is currently in China, and we have requested a join EU spouse short visa to the Irish embassy in Beijing. I am living in Ireland since October, and we have submitted french wedding certificate with translations, my proof of employment in ireland, pay slips, rental agreement, my passport and hers etc..
We have now been waiting for 6 weeks, and when we have called them we were told that this could take up to 6 months (?!), but that i would be 'faster' for us even though they could not say when or if the visa will be approved.
Does anyone have some experience with the irish embassy in Beijing and could tell me how long they are taking for processing this ?

Hi. We applied for Irish join spouse 8 months ago still no answer. Thier reason for delay is backlog too much applications.
You should be lucky if you get it in 6 months

Thanks for your reply! After calling them and sending a couple emails the visa was issued, total time for was a little under 7 weeks. I believe it is a different processing time for Irish Spouse FYI.. but for EU spouse other than irish national this is what i have experienced..

Certain country in Far east gets processed quicker.

I assisted a Thai lady and her visa was issues in 6 weeks, which surprises me.

There are problems with India Pakistan and the Philippines.

Even Nigerian application which is done locally are processed pretty quickly..

One just need smoking gun that there is discrimination on grounds of nationality and take it to court.

For the contact details it depends to which embassy you submitted the visa request in China..?

I am amazed you have been waiting 7 months, are you an Irish or EU citizen?

I am An Eu Citizen and applied for Accomapny Visa for my spouse and still waiting for the decision...
