OCI for my son - please help

Post by Indiuk16 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:39 pm

Hi to all Gurus,

I was wondering if anyone can help me please. I want to apply OCI for my 2 month old son.
My situation - I am naturalised British citizen with OCI. My wife is British national, born and bred in UK. She was never been an Indian citizen. I want to apply OCI for my son on my basis since I was Indian national and now I have OCI.
I have done lots of reading but really it's so confusing... Can anyone please let me know that what documents do I need to apply? Also my son eligible for OCI?
Thanks in advance

Please donot forget to bring your original marriage certificate, one of my friend was sent back by VFS for not carrying marriage certificate when he applied for his kid's OCI.

Btw, may i know whats the confusion all about? yes, your son is eligible for oci because of you.

At the minimum, you need following docs:

(NOTE: Make self attested copies of all supporting docs below)

- Your son passport, birth certificate,
- Two (51mm X 51mm spec only) photos (and online photo to be uploaded on online form),
- Thumb impression of child (digital uploading online)
- Parents original passport, oci cards, naturalisation certificates.
- Parents Original Marriage certificate
- VFS Declaration certificate, appointment letter
- Print out of online OCI filled form, along with parent's signature on it.
- Two royal mail special delivery envelopes

Sorry for posting here . I have similar query. We both are Indian citizens but our son (1 month)have British passport . We did not register our marriage in India at government office, but we have a marriage certificate issued by church there. Will that be sufficient ?
Other options for us is to register marriage here. May take time.
Or get him tourist visa/ on arrival visa ?
Please share your thoughts.. Thanks
