Did you get married with your COA then, if they still had your documents during the 6 months you stayed home.
Yes.. we went there to give notice of intent to marry .. they said they will refer us to the home office and they will decide whether we can marry or not..

Hello everyone,

Quick question. We are about to send off my wife's residence card application. She is a non eea just arrived in the uk on eea fp and I am an Irish national, having rescinded British nationality. We are sending 50 pages of documents, some of them original. Do we have to include a prepaid envelope in our application for them to eventually return our documents, or do they do it as a matter of course? I am only asking because money is tight at the moment :(

Hi tigerram,

We sent a pre-paid return envelope. However, when we requested the non-EEA passport back, they sent it by registered post (we had to sign that we received it) in an envelope of their own. They didn't use ours at that time. I am not sure what they do with the documents should you not send a pre-paid return envelope; in our case I expect they will use it to send the documents. The residence card will come by DX on their expense (as I understand from posts on this forum). Hope this helps.

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with my COA.

I applied with my daugther (14 years old) as Non-EEA to get a Resident card, We enrolled our biometrics on 13/02/2016, on 20/02/2016 I received my daughter's COA with permit to work but I didn't receive my letter.

I thought that the HO will send them together. I don't know if it this normal... If the HO send COA separated or If I have some problem .. I am concerned about it.

Thanks in advanced.

I was wondering what seems to be the pattern lately for the RC delivery: do they send three envelopes, one containing the documents, one containing the letter that they are issuing the RC which should arrive in the next 10 days, and one containing the RC ? or the envelope containing the documents also contains the letter that they are issuing the RC which should arrive in the next 10 days ? or there is no pattern ?

HI Guys,

Here is my timeline,

I am the EAA national and my wife who is from Pakistan who is in the UK on an EAA family permit at the moment (expired during application).

We sent in the application on the 26th of October 2015, Biometrics done on the 9th of November 2015 and we got a COA with the right to work on the 26th of November 2015, We have not heard anything since , is that normal ?

My second question is around the likelihood of her getting the the residency card based upon the fact that they have already done the screening previously as she got the EAA family permit previously?

Thanks in advance.

There isn't any correspondence in between the CoA and the decision. They are currently working on the September applications. Check the timelines here:

I'm not sure what to answer about the second question.

Hi everyone,

A little help as I am freaking out. I am an EEA National with residency permit here. My husband, who is American, submitted his application October 13th. His passport is expiring in June so we asked for it back 10 days ago so we can start the renewal process. Today we got a letter saying that the return was denied because he "currently has no basis of stay in UK" and that his "basis of stay in the UK depends on the conclusion of your application for a residence card." It does also say that he may "wait for the application to be decided and if successful your documents will be returned to you." But then it has all this information about flying home and voluntarily departure, etc. It is really freaking me out.

Should I be worried? Does this mean he will be deported? It seems like we are in the home stretch for the residency card, hitting 5 months in a couple of weeks. Since the COA, this is the first communication I've had. Also, this means that his passport will be 2 months from complete expiration when returned, if returned.

Anyway, anybody have experience with this letter? Any advice would help and I sure hope October's start getting their RC's.

There is no need to freak out this letter is quite normal ... they will not return the passport of Visa nationals unless they have a valid visa on it !!
I personally think that the wording of these letters has been chosen specifically to stress/freak people out ...
I see you are close to 5 months so do not worry and sit tight and you will get your visa very soon, moreover nobody could deport you if you are having a genuine relationship !

Well my wife's application was refused, saying that there was not much evidence of me exercising treaty rights, and that she has to leave the country now, her passport was sent back to us, even there is not valid visa on it. Im still reading and having a laugh because they are really Muppets, I am Swiss citizen, sent swiss passport, and on the refuse letter said I presented swedish passport, and swedish marriage certificate, when in fact was swiss, amazing HO

Fourth application sent 21.07.17
HO received 24.07.17
Paid on 25.07.17

Well in this case it must be a mistake from one of these new agency staff the HO hired ...
Have you provided the prrofs of you exercing treaty rights ?
I believe if you are genuinely exercing treaty right you jave strong grounds for reproduction and/or appeal ... you have just to start the procedure and nobody will deport you !

I will be starting a new application, it is cheaper than going the appeal way, just gattering all my paperwork, and this August will be 2 years married, will see the outcome, they hinted on the refuse letter, that we are a marriage of convenience, and if a new application was made, we will have to attend an interview etc

Hello everyone,

I am planning to apply for EEA2(EFM). I am in a long-term relationship with EU partner, and we are both based in UK. At the moment, I am preparing a cover letter to connect all the supporting documents. My questions is: does my partner need to write and sign this cover letter too? that he confirms that this information is complete and true? Or is it better if he writes a separate letter to support my application? But then I am not quite sure what else he can add there =)

I know that the cover letter is not obligatory, but in the case of EFM I believe one needs to put an extra effort to prove the status of your relationship. Initially, I was planning to apply together with my partner, PR for him and RC-EFM for me - and this would make our story more complete, with more supporting documents from my partner. But we found out that he didn't have comprehensive insurance while he was a student. So he will have to apply separately on the basis of long-term residency in the UK.
Thank you in advance!
