Work Permit Sponsorship requirements

Post by rashidkhan » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:36 am

Hello all,

1) What is required in a work permit sponsorship (for the employee).

2) Does the company offering a work permit HAVE be on the "Register of Sponsors" list? What if they are not? Can they sponsor a work permit?

3) What is the minimum salary required in a work permit sponsorship?

I will appreciate anyone answering the above questions.
Thank you

1. There is no 'work permit' category anymore. It is a Tier 2 General visa. Have you read the Tier 2 General guidance notes?

2. The company has to be an approved sponsor on the list. No, if they are not on the list they cannot sponsor a Tier 2 General visa. They can apply for a sponsor license and see if they get approval.

3. It depends on the job/position and SOC code used.

Thank you for the reply.
By work Permit I meant Tiers.
What is a SOC code?
What is the lowest salaried job & SOC code out of ANY job on the market.

What's the agenda here? There's also the RLMT to consider.

To succeed in the world of work in another country (& culture) takes determination, guts & initiative.
Suggest you help yourself and start with google to get up to speed on basics.

It takes proactive, gung ho whipper-snappers to make it - keep it legal and all above board though.

Yes, I would be interested to know the purpose of this question too as the OP has posted previously that he is applying for BC

I am gathering this information for someone else, not for myself.
Let me phrase the question differently:

An employer is interested in sponsoring a work permit but only if he can afford to give a salary from 18 - 22k.
Do you understand the nature of my question before?

Thanks

If you start a topic and it is 'on behalf of someone else' please state this.

What is the position that the employer wants to sponsor someone for?

Tier 2 G is not as easy as Tier 1 G was. The company needs to meet all the requirements to qualify for a Tier 2 sponsor license and it also has to be a genuine vacancy. The RLMT process is to prove to HO that there are not suitable EU or Settled (ILR) applicants for the position and that one particular migrant (who needs a visa) has not been pre-selected for the position.

Is there someone specific this company has in mind to sponsor? Does this person have a current visa and if so what visa?

Also, from April this year, the minimum salary requirement for Tier 2 G and ILR through this route is set to go up to £35,000pa.
